Delhi government is taking various steps for providing relief and rehabilitation to affected people in recent Delhi Riots. All the people including hindus, muslims, sikhs, jain, buddha, parsi, christian and even policemen suffered a lot during Delhi Riots. People can now check the compensation amount for various people. For Delhi Riots Affected, the state govt. has taken various steps such as Injured people who got admitted in government hospitals would be given free treatment.
For Injured people who are getting admitted in private hospitals, the state govt. has included them in Farishtey Scheme. Previously, Farishte Scheme was only for road accident victims, but now this scheme has been extended to riots and crime affected people. Accordingly, private hospitals would be reimbursed the cost of treatment of riots affected people by the state govt. The entire treatment of victims of riots would be free in these hospitals.
Delhi govt. will ensure proper food supply in curfew areas with the help of NGOs, RWS, local MLAs, Counsellors and public representatives. Round the Clock Helpline Numbers for Delhi Riots Affected people have been started for their relief and rehabilitation.

Latest Update on Delhi Riot Victims Relief Rehabilitation Scheme

As on 30 September 2022, the processing of unsettled claims of compensation for northeast Delhi riots victims has picked up pace with more than 550 applications being disposed within a month after the appointment of 40 loss assessors. In view of a large pendency of unsettled compensation claims, Lieutenant Governor had in August approved the appointment of 40 assessors and directed for disposal of all pending cases within three months.

"Of 40 assessors whose appointment was approved, 36 are working and have disposed over 550 applications for compensation in just over a month. The reports of the accessors will be submitted soon before the High Court for release of the compensation amount," an official said. Earlier there were 14 assessors to assist the North East Delhi Riots Claims Commission (NEDRCC) and they had settled just seven per cent (200) of the total 2,775 claims filed by the riot victims, officials said.

The NEDRCC was set up by a notification in April 2020. It started working in November 2020 to evaluate losses and make recommendations to the Delhi High Court which examines them before the final payment of the compensation. The northeast Delhi riots erupted in February 2020, in the backdrop of anti-CAA protests at various places in the city, claiming more than 50 lives, leaving over 400 injured and causing massive damage of public and private property.

The Delhi government had announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh for major damage to residential units, Rs 2.5 lakh for substantial damage, Rs 25,000 for minor damage, Rs 50,000 for e-rickshaws and Rs 5,000 for cattle. A maximum compensation of Rs 5 lakh was announced for uninsured commercial units.

In case of the death of an adult, the government had fixed compensation of Rs 10 lakh, Rs 5 lakh for the death of an infant, and Rs 5 lakh for permanent incapacitation. The government fixed Rs 2 lakh for serious injuries and Rs 20,000 for minor injuries.

For people whose houses are fully burnt or suffers substantial damage and requires immediate assistance, they would be given an ex-gratia of Rs. 25,000 as immediate help.

Compensation Amount for Delhi Riots Affected Victims

For people whose ID card, Aadhaar card, property deeds and other documents are burnt, Revenue dept. will organize camps. Delhi Municipal corporation has been asked to clean the streets for people convenience. At the Mohalla level, peace committees have been established.

Many people in Delhi lost their shops and vehicles in the recent riots. For those people, whose vehicles and Shops are burnt and they had insurance, finance dept will tie up with insurance companies for speedy settlement of claims. Delhi Finance Corporation has been asked to provide easy loans to people who had lost their employment opportunities.

Students whose books and uniforms are burnt in Delhi Riots will now get the new books free at their schools. Various Helpline numbers are being started in curfew areas. SDMs would be the nodal officers for Helpdesk. All the affected areas has 6 SDMs till date but the state govt. is now appointing 12 more SDMs to ensure safety of people.

These 18 SDMs will have the responsibility to implement the relief and rehabilitation measures. In Delhi, 4 Night Magistrates are being appointed to ensure relief to people at night.
