Uttar Pradesh government in a cabinet meeting decided to start UP Free School Dress Scheme 2023. CM Yogi Adityanath led cabinet decided to transfer cash assistance for purchase of uniforms, sweaters, shoes and school bags. The यूपी मुफ्त स्कूल ड्रेस योजना amount will be credited directly to the bank accounts of the parents of the bonafide students. In UP Muft School Uniform / School Bag Yojana, students from classes 1 to 8 in government and government-aided primary schools will be eligible.

UP Free School Dress Scheme (यूपी मुफ्त स्कूल ड्रेस योजना) 2023

As a new initiative namely UP Free School Dress Scheme, govt. has decided to transfer money to purchase a uniform, sweater, school bags, shoes and stockings. The amount under UP Free School Bag/Uniform/Sweaters/Shoes scheme to be credited to the accounts of the parents of the students of class 1st to 8th. यूपी मुफ्त स्कूल ड्रेस योजना money would be paid through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

Eligibility Criteria for UP Free School Bag / Uniform Scheme

Each student fulfilling the mentioned criteria will be eligible for UP Free School Bag / Uniform Scheme:-
  • Applicant must be a permanent resident of Uttar Pradesh.
  • He / She must be a student.
  • Applicant must be studying in class 1st to 8th in either govt. or govt-aided school in UP state.

  • UP Free School Dress Scheme will ensure a transparent system.
  • It will develop a market at the local level.

  • Due to timely availability of facilities to the students, their attendance will improve.
  • Learning-teaching environment will also improve. 
With this arrangement, the state, district and block level administrative officers will be in a position to focus more on improving the quality of education by being free from the procurement process.
Currently, free uniforms are provided to the students of classes 1 to 8 by the Uttar Pradesh Government which are arranged through different processes. Because of this, timely supply of uniforms remains a challenge and sometimes complaints regarding the quality are also received.

UP Muft School Dress Yojana Amount

An amount of about Rs. 1800 crore will be transferred through DBT in the bank accounts of parents of more than 1.60 crore students for free uniforms.

In a Nutshell

For uniforms, shoes, socks, sweaters and school bags, the parents of the students from Classes 1 to 8 studying in government primary and aided schools will be given money directly in their accounts. About Rs. 1,800 crore will be spent on this. Presently, the uniforms, shoes, school bags are provided to the students through the schools for free. For carrying forward the scheme, the parents of 1.6 crore students will be provided a total amount of about Rs 1,800 crore through direct benefit transfer (DBT).

UP Agriculture Export Policy Amendment

In another decision, UP state cabinet has approved the proposal to amend the UP Agriculture Export Policy 2019 to provide more help to the farmers. Uttar Pradesh Agricultural Export Policy has been promulgated with the aim of increasing the export of agricultural products from Uttar Pradesh to the farmers to get a better prices for their products.

In view of the practical difficulties being faced in the construction of export-based farmer clusters, provision has been made to have at least 50 hectares of agricultural land within the boundaries of the development block. With this, cluster-based incentive benefits under the UP Agriculture Export Policy will be accessible and acceptable to the farmer groups in a timely manner.

This will encourage exports and for simplification of the process, arrangements have been made to determine the process of proving export obligation by the government from time to time.
