UP Free Smartphone Yojana List 2021

CM Yogi Adityanath has given directions to the officials to prepare list of students in advance who will get free smartphones / tablets under UP Free Smartphone Yojana. It is expected that the process of distributing free smartphones will start from the November end. Each candidate who is willing to get a tablet smartphone must fillup UP Free Smartphone Yojana 2021 online registration form at 

In Yogi Muft Mobile Phone Yojna, school students in Uttar Pradesh will get smartphones with preloaded content. Smartphones under UP Free Tablet Yojana will come with preloaded study content and will be distributed free of cost to students enrolled in government colleges. UP Muft Smartphone Yojana is a free smartphone scheme to be launched by the state government of Uttar Pradesh for technical empowerment of youth.
All those students whose name will be present in the UP Free Smartphone Yojana List will get tablets which will put a burden of around Rs. 3000 crore on the state exchequer.  

UP Free Tablet Yojana Objective

The main objective of UP Free Tablet Yojana is to enable youth to complete their educational courses successfully. After completing their education, students can use the gadgets to work in various government /non-government organisations or self-reliant schemes.

Cabinet Approval to UP CM Free Smartphone Scheme 

Uttar Pradesh cabinet on 5 October 2021 (Tuesday) gave its approval to the UP CM Free Smartphone Scheme. The cabinet passed the Yogi government's proposal for distribution of free tablets and smartphones to the youth in the urban and rural areas of the state. In a press statement, the state government said smartphones/tablets free of cost will be distributed among the youth enrolled in courses like Graduation (UG), Post-graduation (PG), Diploma, Skill development, Paramedical, Nursing and others.

Who are Eligible for UP Free Smartphone Yojana 

The youth enrolled in the higher education, technical education, health education, skill development training, ITI and "Seva Mitra portal" of the state will get the benefit of UP Free Tablet Yojana. Seva Mitra portal is an important initiative of the skill development department through which various skill services like those of plumber, carpenter, nurse, electrician, AC mechanic etc are trained. They will be provided tablets/smartphones so that they can earn their living by providing better services to the citizens. In the proposed beneficiary category under the scheme, the youth of other categories can also be included from time to time with the approval of the chief minister.

The decision of which beneficiary category is to be provided and to whom smartphones are to be provided will be decided at the level of chief minister in due course. Determination of priority of the beneficiary class for distribution of tablets/smartphones and also regarding phased purchase will be taken from the level of chief minister in due course, the state government’s statement said.

1st Phase of Free Smartphone / Tablet Yojana

योगी सरकार प्रदेश के करीब एक करोड़ युवाओं को मुफ्त टैबलेट और स्मार्टफोन का वितरण जल्द ही शुरू करने वाली है. इस योजना के तहत लाभार्थियों का चयन, टैबलेट और स्मार्ट फोन वितरण व इसकी मानीटरिंग के लिए वेब पोर्टल बनाया गया है. इसके पहले चरण में विश्वविद्यालयों के स्नातक द्वितीय, तृतीय और परास्नातक द्वितीय वर्ष के विद्यार्थियों को दिया जाएगा. स्नातक व परास्नातक प्रथम वर्ष के छात्र-छात्राओं का डेटाबेस तैयार होने के बाद विश्वविद्यालय सूचना भेजेंगे.

What is Eligibility Criteria for UP Free Smartphone Yojana

  • Candidate must be a permanent resident of Uttar Pradesh.
  • Annual income must be less than Rs. 2 lakh.
  • Must be studying any of the Degree, Graduation, Diploma, Other Training Courses.
  • If applicant is from government run institutions, then preference would be given.
  • No backlogs in previous attended examinations.

How to Apply Online for UP Free Smartphone Yojana

  • Interested applicants first need to visit the website and then click the register button.
  • Applicants then need to fill their personal and contact information required in the form. Name, Gender, Date of Birth, Name of Father/Mother/Spouse and district etc are to be filled in the first step.
  • Applicants can then review the filled application form and submit.
  • A unique registration number will be allotted to each candidate after submitting the details.
  • The applicants will receive a login password on their mobile number through SMS to complete the second step application procedure.
  • Login using the password received on your mobile number and fill rest of the details such as complete address, category, income details, and academic details.
  • Upload scanned copies of latest passport size photograph and mark sheet of 10th class.
  • If the candidate is found eligible after verification, the smartphone will be delivered to their home till the end of the year 2021.
In the second step of application, the applicants need to review the submitted information and make the final submission. After the second step is complete, the applicants will not be able to change/edit any of the submitted information.

UP Free Mobile Phone Issuance to Schools Students

Smartphones under UP Free Tablet Yojana will act as a two way communication tool to inform and educate people about the scheme and policies of UP government. The smartphone will come with the latest software and loaded with the app where users can share feedback about the government policies and schemes.

The e-smartphones under UP Free Mobile Phone Yojana 2021 will be kept in college library and would be issued to students like books. The decision to start distribute free of cost smartphones under Muft Mobile Phone Yojana is in consonance with the New Education Policy (NEP).

The new National Educational Policy lays stress on the use and integration of technology for education. The Free Smartphone initiative is also important in the light of ongoing Digital India campaign which aims at making citizens digitally empowered. The conversion not only brings quality in education but technology also helps in academic reforms.

Yogi Free Smartphone Scheme 2021 registration will require some documents which are listed here:-
  • Aadhar Card
  • Identity Card
  • Residence Certificate
  • Mobile number

The registration procedure will be completely online, applicants would not be required to visit any government office in any case. The verification of the documents and eligibility of the candidate would be done by the official visit to residence of applicants.

The study material will be loaded in mobile phones given under UP Free Smartphone Yojana and will be accessible without internet connection. Each smartphone will have a 6 inch screen and will have high-resolution quality so that it has no adverse impact on the eyesight of students.

Need for Yogi Muft Smartphone Yojana in Wake of COVID-19

During the pandemic, various educational institutions continued with their educational activities through online means. The inevitable need of digital empowerment of students and the youth had been felt at every level. Digital mediums are also being used more and more for the youth to apply in various government and non-government jobs, get coaching/training for them or apply in any other employment,” the statement said.

"The technical and educational institutions are also distributing and disseminating teaching materials, tutorial lectures to the students through online mediums. The facility of data access through internet connectivity can also be availed at affordable rates. The smart phones/tablets will make the youth residing in the urban and rural areas of the state educated, trained and self-reliant," the state government said.
