Chief Minister Breakfast Scheme 2023 has been launched by Tamil Nadu government. The announcement regarding CM Breakfast Scheme in Tamilnadu was made by M.K Stalin on 7 May 2022 under Rule 110. In this Chief Minister's breakfast scheme, the state govt. will provide free morning meal to primary school children from 1st to 5th class studying in govt. schools. CM Breakfast Scheme in Tamil Nadu Budget 2023-24

Finance Minister presented Tamil Nadu Budget 2023-24 on 20 March 2023 in which he said "A sum of ₹500 crore has been allocated to expand the Chief Minister’s Breakfast Scheme for students, as a result of which 18 lakh students are to be benefitted. The Tamil Nadu government will expand the morning breakfast scheme to all 30,122 government primary schools from next academic year".

FM also said "The state government launched the free breakfast scheme last year in 1,543 government primary schools in the first phase covering 1.48 lakh students. Out of 1543 schools, 1319 schools witnessed an increase in attendance. Of these around 624 schools had 10% increase in attendance and attendance increased 20% in 462 schools and 30% in 193 schools". 

He also mentioned that all primary schools which implemented the morning breakfast scheme in 4 districts - Thiruppathur, Perambalur, Ariyalur, Tiruvarur - recorded an increase in attendance.

About Tamilnadu CM Breakfast Scheme 2023 

Under the new CM breakfast scheme, class 1 to 5 students in govt. schools will get morning meal absolutely free on all working days. It is a flagship scheme of MK Stalin led DMK government. The main objective is to provide nutritious morning meals to students.

Announcement of TN Chief Minister's Breakfast Scheme

Chief Minister M.K. Stalin himself has made announcement regarding Free Breakfast Scheme in Tamilnadu. This announcement was made on 07.05.2022 under Rule 110 in which all govt. school students who are studying in 1st to 5th standard will get free breakfast.

Launch of Chief Minister Breakfast Scheme in Tamil Nadu

Nutritious breakfast will be provided to primary school children from 1st to 5th standard studying in Government schools on all school working days. The CM Breakfast scheme has been launched on 15 September 2022 at Madurai by the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. 

First Phase of Free Breakfast Scheme in Tamilnadu

In the first phase, Corporations, Municipalities and Panchayats were selected based on high prevalance of Aneamia as per NHFS-5 data, economically bakward blocks as per SBGF, habitations of Tribal population and inaccessibility of the areas will be covered under this CM Breakfast scheme. 
At present, around 1,14,095 primary school children studying in 1545 Government schools will be covered under Chief Minister Breakfast scheme. The total cost for implementation of 1st phase of morning meal scheme is Rs.33.56 crores which will be extended to remaining schools in phased manner.

Wednesday (Pongal Type)

The quantity of raw material will be 50 grms per child per day. Locally available Millet based Breakfast also be utilised for atleast 2 days a week. This will ensure approximately 293.40 calories of energy, 9.85 grms of Protein, 5.91 grms of Fat, 1.64 grms of iron and 20.41 grms of calcium for each child.
