Significance of EBSB Yuva Sangam Yojana (युवा संगम योजना)
India is a unique nation, whose fabric has been woven by diverse linguistic, cultural and religious threads, held together into a composite national identity by a rich history of cultural evolution, coupled with a freedom struggle that was built around the tenets of non-violence and justice. The spirit of mutual understanding amidst a shared history has enabled a special unity in diversity, which stands out as a tall flame of nationhood that needs to be nourished and cherished. The idea of a sustained and structured cultural connect between people of different regions was mooted by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi during the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas held on 31st October, 2015, to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The Hon'ble Prime Minister propounded that cultural diversity is a joy that ought to be celebrated through mutual interaction & reciprocity between people of different States and UTs so that a common spirit of understanding resonates throughout the country.
Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat programme aims to enhance interaction & promote mutual understanding between people of different states/UTs. The states carry out activities to promote a sustained and structured cultural connection in the areas of language learning, culture, traditions & music, tourism & cuisine, sports and sharing of best practices, etc. India being a nation with one of the youngest populations in the world, an initiative of ‘Yuva Sangam (युवा संगम)’ under Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat has been conceptualised with an aim to strengthen people to people connect and build empathy between youth of the North eastern states and other States.
The Yuva Samagam will focus on conducting exposure tours of the youths comprising mainly of students studying in Higher Educational institutions & some off-campus youngsters from North Eastern States to other states & vice versa. It will provide an immersive experience of various facets of life, development landmarks, recent achievements and a youth connect in the host state. Similarly, students from the Higher Education Institutes of the North Eastern states will visit HEIs in other Indian states for a similar experience. During their visits, the youth will have a multi-dimensional exposure under five broad areas - Paryatan (Tourism), Parampara (Traditions), Pragati (Development) and Paraspar Sampark (People-to-people connect), Prodvoaik (Technology).
