e Kisan Upaj Nidhi portal has been launched by Sh. Piyush Goyal on 4th March 2024. The new concept of ई किसान उपज निधि provides the farmers with an online platform to obtain post-harvest loans from banks. These loans can be obtained by pledging their electronic Negotiable Warehouse Receipts (e-NWRs) for the stocks kept in WDRA registered warehouses. 

  

It is a joint endeavor of Department of Food and Public Distribution, WDRA, Department of Financial Services and NABARD. E Kisan Upaj Nidhi Portal Registration & Login

• First of all, go to E Kisan Upaj Nidhi portal at https://test.wdra.gov.in/digital/eng.html

• At the homepage, click at the "Register" button or directly click https://www.jansamarth.in/register
• Upon clicking the link, the page to make e-Kisan Upaj Nidhi registration 2024 will appear as shown below:-

• Enter mobile number, captcha, tick declaration and click at "Get OTP".
• Make OTP verification to complete E Kisan Upaj Nidhi portal registration.
• After registration is complete, one can make login using the link - https://www.jansamarth.in/login
• Upon clicking the link, EKUN portal login page will open.

• Enter address / mobile number, captcha and click at "Login" button to make e Kisan Upaj Nidhi portal login.

Introduction to E Kisan Upaj Nidhi Scheme

• Use your electronic-Negotiable Warehouse Receipts (e-NWR) to apply for secured credit from banks.
• e-NWRs from WDRA registered warehouses mandatory.
• Financing for agricultural commodities against e-NWRs available from Banks/Financial Institutions.

Eligible Applicants for e-Kisan Upaj Nidhi Scheme

• Farmers having commodities stored in a WDRA registered warehouse.
• Farmer should have an e-NWR (electronic - Negotiable Warehouse Receipt) issued against such commodities.
• E-NWR should be issued by either of the two repositories namely, NERL or CCRL.

Additional Information on e-Kisan Upaj Nidhi Yojana Apply Online 

• Farmers to register/apply on JanSamarth portal using the same mobile number as registered with the repositories (NERL / CCRL).
• Maximum tenure is commensurate with the stated shelf life of the commodity or date of validity of the e-NWR in any case not exceeding 12 months.
• The margin is of 25% against an e-NWR.
• An e-NWR has a time validity that is co-terminus with the validity of the commodity or withdrawal of the commodity fully from the warehouse, after which it expires. 

E Kisan Upaj Nidhi Yojana 2024 Launch

Agriculture sector is the foundational pillar which is going to spearhead the nation towards becoming "Viksit Bharat" by 2047. To give a boost to farming sector, govt. has launched e-Kisan Upaj Nidhi (digital gateway) on 4th March 2024 to ease farmers warehousing logistics. This initiative is basically meant to help the farmers in receiving fair prices for their produce and prevent distress sale by them.

While launching E Kisan Upaj Nidhi Portal, Sh. Piyush Goyal even announced that the security deposit charges at WDRA registered warehouses will soon be reduced. It would encourage more farmers, especially small farmers, to utilize the warehouses and enhance their income. Farmers stocking their produce at these warehouses would need to pay only 1% security deposit instead of earlier 3%.

Making Farming Attractive through e-Kisan Upaj Nidhi Platform

Digital Gateway initiative is an important stepping stone in govt's effort to make farming attractive. e-Kisan Upaj Nidhi with its no collateral, extra security deposit policy can prevent distress sale by farmers who often have to sell their entire harvest at cheaper rates due to poor post-harvest storage opportunities.

In India, warehouses under WDRA are well monitored, highly rated and are equipped with infrastructure. This infra will protect the farm produce and lead to farmers' welfare. Now the govt. is pressing for mandatory registration of warehouses utilised by Food Corporation of India (FCI) across the states under WDRA. Also, govt. wants to complete preparation of a roadmap for state warehouses to be infrastructure-ready.

Basic Features of e-Kisan Upaj Nidhi (Digital Gateway)

e Kisan Upaj Nidhi portal with its simplified digital process can ease the procedure of farmers' storage at any registered WDRA warehouse for a period of 6 months at 7% interest per annum. WDRA initiative of providing an online platform for warehouse registration is hailed by the central government. It has seen significant increase year-on-year and set a target of 1 lakh warehouses to be registered on the portal. It is worth noting that last year, 1500 warehouses were registered.

Interconnected Market for Farmers through e-Kisan Upaj Nidhi and e-NAM

Farmers will be able to utilise the technology of an interconnected market through e-Kisan Upaj Nidhi and e-NAM. It would benefit farmers above and beyond selling their produce to the Government at Minimum Support Price (MSP). Note that government's procurement through MSPs has increased 2.5 times over the last decade.

Sh. Piyush Goyal also talked about world's largest cooperative food grain storage scheme. Union govt. has urged WDRA to plan a proposal to provide free registration of all the godowns under the cooperative sector. The initiative to aid cooperative sector godowns will further boost farmers to stock their produce in WDRA facilities. It would lead them to get fair price on selling their harvest.
