Input Subsidy / Interest Subsidy in YSR Sunna Vaddi Scheme

  • Input subsidy aims to compensate the losses incurred by farmers in the Kharif season.
  • Interest Subsidy under YSR Sunna Vaddi Panta Runalu scheme aims to lessen the burden of interest on loans taken by farmers by providing interest reimbursement. As only the farmers who have repaid their loans are eligible, so zero interest subsidy will also encourage farmers to repay their farm loans (crop loans) on time.

DBT in YSR Sunna Vaddi Pathakam Scheme

AP government transferred Rs. 200 crore through DBT to more than 8.68 lakh farmers on 28 November 2022.
  • Out of this DBT amount, around 39.39 crore is given as input subsidy to 45,995 farmers. The crops of these farmers were damaged due to uneven rain and floods in Kharif season 2022.
  • The rest amount of Rs. 160.61 crore is given as zero interest subsidy (interest reimbursement) in bank accounts of 8,22,411 small, marginal and general farmers along with horticulture farmers. These farmers are those who have taken loans upto Rs. 1 lakh in Rabi season 2020-21 and Kharif season 2020-2021 and have repaid their loans.
The state govt. has disbursed a total amount of Rs. 1834.78 crore as Input Subsidy till 28 November 2022. In the past 3.5 years, the number of farmers who have got interest reimbursement has reached around 73.83 lakh.
