YSR Jagananna Colonies Scheme in AP Budget 2024-25

On 7th February 2024, Finance Minister presented AP Budget 2024-25. While presenting the Andhra Pradesh Budget, FM said "YSR Jagananna Colonies are being developed as model villages, providing the required physical infrastructure such as drinking water supply, electricity, roads, etc. at an estimated cost of Rs. 32,909 crore. So far, 1,62,538 beneficiaries have started residing in the YSR Jagananna Colonies".

FM added that "Under Jagananna Smart Townships, MIG layouts with 12,042 plots covering 1,426 acres are being developed. Under AMRUT 2.0, rejuvenation of 101 urban water bodies covering more than 5,000 acres is taken up with a project cost of Rs.189 crore. Also, 481 Urban Health Centres were newly established".

AP YSR Jagananna Housing Colonies Scheme 2024 Update 

Chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has released interest reimbursement on housing loans granted to women beneficiaries on 18 January 2024. CM remitted Rs. 46.9 crore to 4.07 lakh beneficiaries. The state government has been reimbursing the interest amount to woman beneficiaries of YSR Jagananna housing colonies to help them complete their houses on time. While banks have been offering loans at 9% to 11% interest rate for housing units, the state government is granting the loans at 3%. Interestingly, the state government is reimbursing even the marginal three percent rate of interest to the banks to make the entire loan interest-free.

The state government roped in banks to grant loans to the tune of Rs. 4,500 crore to about 27 lakh beneficiaries since the government launched the housing project three years ago. The government has distributed about 31 lakh house sites to woman beneficiaries and granted housing units. In addition to granting financial assistance to the tune of Rs. 1.8 lakh per house, the government is providing free sand worth Rs. 15,000, and benefits of Rs. 40,000 by giving steel, cement, metal frames, and other construction materials at discounted price. Each beneficiary is being granted a bank loan of Rs. 35,000 at a low interest rate of 3%.

With a commitment to fulfil the dream of a home for poor women across the state, chief minister granted free house site pattas to over 31 lakh beneficiaries. We are providing financial assistance to the tune of Rs. 2.7 lakh per house and is spending around Rs. 1 lakh on infrastructure on an average per house, said housing minister. He said that the banks have so far provided Rs. 4,500.19 crore in loans to 12.77 lakh beneficiaries. He said that the CM will reimburse Rs. 46.90 crore interest reimbursement for the current instalment to 4,07,323 eligible beneficiaries. He said that the government will be reimbursing interest subsidy twice a year.
