This e-taxi scheme is basically the 1st phase of the flagship Rajiv Gandhi Swarojgar Yojana (RGSY-2023) in Himachal Pradesh. This HP e taxi scheme is not for business purposes where individuals or taxi operators apply to get the subsidy and deploy drivers for operating electric vehicles. This is only for unemployed youths for self employment and environment friendly e-taxis.
Steps to Apply Online for e Taxi Scheme in Himachal Pradesh
- Visit the eTaxi Webportal: https://etaxihpdt.org/home
- Beneficiary/Applicant needs to click on the Application Register tab on the top right side or on the hyperlink- "Click Here to Register".
- Then e Taxi Registration Form will appear on your screen.
- Provide/enter Personal Information:
- Enter your full name, E-mail address, Mobile phone number, Date of Birth, Age, and RTO Concerned.
- Enter your permanent address with all the fields mentioned.
- Enter your correspondence address with all the fields mentioned.
- Enter your personal details with all the fields mentioned
- Upload Documents: Upload your documents: Driver's License, Bonafide Himachali, Unemployment Certificate, Aadhar Card, DOB proof, and 10+2 Certificate.
- Credentials (Create Password): Applicant can create his own password. Password set up will be OTP based. User ID will be the applicant's email ID.
- Payment will be through CTP: Select these methods as a payment method such as a credit card, debit card, or digital wallet to your account. Make online payment for Application Fee of INR 20/-
- Confirmation: Confirmation of your registration will be sent through Email and SMS.

Eligibility Criteria for HP e Taxi Scheme
- The applicant should be Bonafide Himachali.
- The minimum age of the applicant should be 23 yrs and the applicant should have an experience of 7 years to drive vehicle.
- This scheme can be availed by only one person in a family.
- Minimum educational qualification of the applicant should be 10+2 from any recognized Board of school Education/Institutions.
- Applicant must have a valid up-to-date driving license and not expired.

e-Taxi Scheme is 1st Phase of Rajiv Gandhi Self Employment Start Up Yojana
CM launched the e-taxi scheme under the first phase of Rs. 680 crore Rajiv Gandhi Self-Employment Start-up Yojna. A website of the Transport Department will facilitate e-taxi scheme online registration. 500 permits would be issued in the first phase, and the number of permits will be increased as per the demand in the near future.The Himachal Pradesh government is committed to provide self employment opportunities to the youth and making Himachal a green state by 2026. 50% subsidy will be given to unemployed youth for the purchase of e-taxis and e-buses. Besides, no collateral guarantee will be required for raising loans from the banks, CM said while talking to the media persons.
Implementation of HP e-Taxi Scheme
Youth keen on purchasing e-taxis or buses would be required to apply for e-taxi in the etaxihpdt.org portal started by the government within a month. Each eligible youth above the age of 23 years will be linked to the startup scheme and e-taxi permits would be issued. Once the e-taxi permit is issued, it would be registered with the Labour Department, which would facilitate the loan process without collateral guarantee after depositing the margin money and release of the subsidy directly through the banks for the purchase of taxi, CM said.To facilitate the smooth running of e-vehicles, charging points would be set up at all the petrol pumps of Indian Oil and Bharat Petroleum, and Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) and State Electricity Board have also been asked to provide 17 e-charging stations on six identified corridors, Sukhu said.
HP state government is planning to replace the entire fleet of about 3,000 buses of HRTC with e-buses, and 350 e-buses will be purchased shortly and 1,500 e-buses in three years to encourage e-buses in the private sector. The government has issued 24 e-buses permits out of a total of 107 permits and a subsidy of Rs. 50 lakh would be provided for an e-bus costing Rs. 1 crore, Sukhu said.
2nd Phase of Rajiv Gandhi Self Employment Start Up Scheme
Under the second phase of Rajiv Gandhi Self Employment Startup scheme, the youth would be encouraged to set up solar energy projects. The draft of this scheme was being finalised and soon this scheme will also be rolled out, CM said.3rd Phase of Rajiv Gandhi Swarojgar Yojana
