Yuva Vikasam Scheme in Telangana Budget 2024-25

On 10th February 2024, Finance Minister presented Telangana Budget 2024-25. While presenting the budget, FM said "Two other important promises of our government are, supply of LPG cylinder @ Rs. 500/- and under Gruha Jyothi scheme, 200 units of free electricity per month to all eligible consumers. The Council of Ministers in its meeting on 4th February, 2024 has approved implementation of both these schemes. Very soon, the modalities for implementation will be finalised and schemes will be rolled out. Further, our government is committed to implement Rythu Bharosa, Indiramma houses, Cheyutha and Yuva Vikasam. We are committed to implement them at the earliest".

FM added "In this budget, we have proposed Rs. 53,196 crores, for implementation of these schemes. Provision of additional funds will be made as required, once a complete assessment is made about the schemes".

About Telangana Yuva Vikasam Scheme 2024

Rahul Gandhi made the announcement to start the Telangana Yuva Vikasam Scheme while releasing their election manifesto (Abhaya Hastham) on September 18, 2023. Under this plan, the party has pledged to provide vidya bharosa cards worth Rs. 5 lakh to students.  

In addition to this, international schools would be built in every mandal across the state.  

Telangana Vidya Bharosa Card Uses

Vidya Bharosa Card would be a financial assistance card worth Rs. 5 lakh for students. Vidya Bharosa Card could be used in payment of:- 

• College fees (in addition to fee reimbursement), 
• Coaching fees, 
• Foreign college fees, 
• Overseas travel expenses, 
• Tuition fees, 
• Purchase of books and study materials, 
• Hostel fees, 
• Exam fees, 
• Skill development courses, 
• To buy laptops or research instruments and
• Other education related activities.
