Gujarat government is implementing Saraswati Sadhana Yojana 2024-2025 to provide free bicycles to girls belonging to the Scheduled Class category and studying in class 9th. Saraswati Sadhana Yojana Allocation in Gujarat Budget 2024-25

Finance Minister presented Gujarat Budget 2024-25 on 2 February 2024. FM made a provision of Rs. 84 crore under "Saraswati Sadhana Yojana" to provide cycles free of cost to 1,50,000 girls of Scheduled Castes and Developing Castes studying in standard 9.

FM also made a provision of Rs. 21 crore for providing cycles, to approximately 39,000 girls studying in standard 9 under Vidya Sadhana Yojana. Gujarat Sarasvati Sadhana Yojana aims to improve the gross enrollment ratio for class IX. This scheme would promote girls education as the problem of lack of access, lower participation and bad quality facilities would be tackled through this Saraswati Sadhana Scheme. The status of girls education and thus the overall quality of girls education would be improved.

• Scheme Name: Free Cycle To SC Girls studying in Std:9 (Sarasvati Sadhana Yojana) (BCK-6).
• Assistance Details: Free Cycle Given to SC Girl Student who studying in Std:9.
• Pre-defined Application Form: Online Work have to be done through school principals (Portal: https://www.digitalgujarat.gov.in/)

Eligibility criteria for Saraswati Sadhana Yojana in Gujarat

• Applicant must be a permanent resident of Gujarat state.
• Only Scheduled Caste (SC) girls are eligible.
• SC Girls who are studying in std: 9 are eligible.
• Income criteria is Rs. 6,00,000/- for rural area and Rs. 6,00,000/- for urban area.

It is important to note that only those girls who fulfills these conditions would get free bicycles.

About Gujarat Saraswati Sadhana Yojana (SSY) 2024-2025

Secondary education (10th class) is a crucial stage in education as it lays the foundation of students towards higher education and even towards working. As per the survey reports, most of the girls belonging to deprived sections of the society left education due to lack of proper facilities. So, in order to encourage girls from SC community to pursue further studies, the state govt. of Gujarat has launched Saraswati Sadhana Yojana 2024 to provide free bicycle to SC girls studying in Class 9th in govt. / govt. aided schools.

Saraswati Sadhana Yojana in Gujarat aims to promote enrollment of girls belonging to the age group of 14 to 18 years at secondary and senior secondary level. This scheme will reduce drop out rate of girls from deprived sections of the society.
