West Bengal government has launched WB Taruner Swapna Scheme 2024 for class 12th students. Under this scheme, the state govt. provide Rs. 10,000 grant to enable students to purchase tablets / smartphones. Taruner Swapna Scheme in WB Budget 2024-25

On 8th February 2024, Finance Minister presented West Bengal Budget 2024-25. While presenting the budget FM said "An one-time grant of Rs. 10,000 is given to each student of Class XII of the Government/Government Aided/Sponsored Schools and Madrasahs for purchasing tablets/smart phones to access the e-learning mode under Taruner Swapno Scheme. Till date more than 3.67 crore students have received the benefit under the Scheme, including around 9.7 lakh students in 2023-24".

FM added "Since 2022, under Taruner Swapno scheme, we are providing financial assistance of Rs. 10,000 to each student for studying in class 12 for purchasing smart phone/tablet PC to enable them to continue their online studies by accessing online education materials. It is now proposed to provide this financial assistance starting with class 11 students. This will help the students to use tablet PC/Smart Phone for two years. I propose to allocate additional Rs. 900 crore for this purpose".

FM further stated that 37,055 numbers of vocational students have been given financial assistance from Government in Financial Year 2022-23 for procurement of Tab / Smart Phone under Taruner Swapno. In 2023-24 around 40,000 students will be benefited through this scheme.

WB Taruner Swapno Scheme Objective

Taruner Swapna Scheme aims to bridge the digital divide among students and facilitate modern education. Generally students from poor families are unable to purchase smartphone / tablet PC due to lack of money as their parents are not financially sound. To ensure that each student has their own smartphones / tabs, the state govt. has started Taruner Swapno scheme. This would enable students to do online studies, access online education materials and get connected with the digital world.

Taruner Swapna Scheme Eligibility Criteria

• Applicant must be a permanent resident of the West Bengal state.
• Students from Government/Government Aided/Sponsored Schools and Madrasahs who are studying in class 12th are eligible.
• Students with backlogs are not eligible as this grant is for one time only.

• First of all, visit the official website of Taruner Swapno Scheme.
• On the homepage, click at "Apply" link.
• Upon clicking the link, the Taruner Swapna scheme online registration form will open.
• Fill in the asked details accurately and upload necessary documents as mentioned above.
• Review your filled in information in the Taruner Swapno online application form.
• Finally, click on the "Submit" button to send your application to the concerned authorities for approval.

Once approval is done, students will get Rs. 10,000 financial assistance under Taruner Swapno Scheme for purchase of smartphones/tabs.
