Jai Johar Pension Scheme 2024 application form available to download in PDF format. West Bengal govt. has started 2 new pension schemes namely Joy Johar Scheme and Taposili Bandhu Prakalpa Yojana. Jai Johar Scheme 2024 is basically for scheduled tribe (ST) community people who are not receiving any pension. Similarly, Tapasili Bandhu Scheme is basically meant to provide pension to left out scheduled caste (SC) category people. The state govt. of West Bengal will provide Rs. 1,000 per month as pension under Jai Johar & Taposili bandhu prakalpa schemes. The state govt. of WB state has also started Hasir Alo Free Electricity Scheme / Chai Sundari Housing scheme . Hasir Alo is the free electricity scheme for poor people while chai sundari scheme is for tea garden workers.

Jai Johar & Taposili Bandhu in West Bengal Budget 2024-25

On 8th February 2024, FM presented West Bengal Budget 2024-25. While presenting the Budget, Finance minister said "Rs. 1,000 per month is provided to the poor ST persons with age of 60 years or above through "Jai Johar" Old Age Pension Scheme rolled out from 01.04.2020. It is a universal scheme. In 2023-24, 3,00,410 beneficiaries got registered so far for which Rs. 245.99 crore has been utilized till date. It is anticipated that 3,05,000 beneficiaries will be covered at the end of the current fiscal.

FM added that ‘Taposili Bandhu’, a noble social pension scheme targeting all the 60 and 60+ persons of SC community, was initiated in April 2020, where the beneficiaries receive a monthly pension @ Rs. 1,000. Under this scheme, around 10,90,535 persons are getting monthly pension with a financial involvement of Rs. 777.58 crore (up to Deccember 2023). Since 2020-21, total expenditure incurred under the said scheme amounts to Rs. 4,419.59 crore.

Here are the complete details of the Jai Johar Scheme, Tapasili Bandhu Scheme along with 2 other schemes namely Hasir Alo scheme and Chai Sundari scheme announced in the West Bengal budget:- 

• Joy Johar Scheme - Scheduled Tribe (ST) community people above 60 years of age who are not getting pension from any agency would be covered under Jai Johar Pension Scheme. All those ST category people would be given Rs. 1,000 per month as pension under Jai Johar Scheme. West Bengal Jai Johar Scheme 2024 is going to benefit 1 lakh ST category people.
• Tapasili Bandhu Prakalpa Scheme - Scheduled Caste (SC) community people above 60 years of age who doesn't get pension from any agency would be covered under Tapasili Bandhu Prakalpa Scheme. All such SC category people would be given Rs. 1,000 per month as pension. The Taposili Bandhu Pension Scheme will benefit more than 4 lakh SC category people. 
• Hasir Alo Scheme - Under Hasir Alo Scheme, the state govt. is providing free electricity for consumers with quarterly consumption up to 75 units. The Hasir Alo Free Electricity Scheme would benefit 35 lakh poor families. 
• Chai Sundari Scheme - WB Chai Sundari Scheme is going to build houses for all permanent tea garden workers. West Bengal state govt. has allocated Rs. 500 crore for the Chai Sundari Housing Scheme for permanent tea garden workers. This housing scheme will benefit around 3 lakh workers in 370 tea gardens in the state.
