West Bengal government has started Medhashree Scholarship Scheme 2023 to provide scholarship to students from other backward classes (OBC) category. The new Medhashree Prakalpa scheme will benefit around 2.63 lakh students every year. The Medhashree scheme has been launched by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on 19 January 2023. While addressing a rally, CM Banerjee said every single person in Bengal should have access to the basic amenities.

About West Bengal Medhashree Scholarship Scheme 2023

CM Mamata Banerjee said "I'm delighted to launch the Medhashree scheme, which will provide scholarships to students from Other Backward Classes". In the Medhashree scholarship scheme, students belonging to the backward and minority communities will be entitled to Rs. 800 as annual grant. West Bengal government would do its bit to protect interests of students. Medhashree Prakalpa scheme is going to benefit 2.63 lakh students every year. Also WB government has implemented 17 per cent reservation for OBCs.
CM Banerjee also stated that "The central government has stopped scholarships for students of OBC and other minorities. But don't be worried. We will be providing the same grant to them". The TMC supremo also said that attempts were being made to create division among the people of West Bengal, and urged people not to pay heed to them.

How to Apply Online for WB Medhashree Scheme

The new Medhashree scholarship scheme has been announced by CM Mamata Banerjee on 20 Jan 2023. However, she did not mentioned about the Medhashri prakalpa apply online process. Like other scholarship schemes, it is expected that Medhashree prakalpa scheme application forms would also be invited. It is highly likely that Medhashree scholarship online registration form would be invited through online mode. After verification only, students shall be able to get annual grant of Rs. 800. Eligibility Criteria for WB Medhashree Prakalpa

  • Applicant must be a permanent resident of West Bengal state.
  • Applicant must belong to other backward class (OBC) category.
  • Students from minority community may also get annual grant.
