Earlier, the state govt. of West Bengal on 18 October 2023 (Tuesday) released Rs. 197 crore for 2.46 lakh farmers as crop insurance. The funds have been released during the ongoing Durga Puja festivities for farmers who have not been able to sow paddy due to deficit rainfall this year.
Bangla Shasya Bima Yojana in West Bengal Budget 2024-25
On 8th Feb 2024, Finance Minister presented WB Budget 2024-25 in which FM said "From Kharif Season 2019, the State Government has
been implementing ‘Bangla Shasya Bima (BSB) Scheme’,
a fully State Government funded scheme for crop
insurance. Total 68 lakh farmers enrolled under the
scheme during Rabi 2022-23 and 59.59 lakh farmers
during Kharif 2023-24. During the financial year, 70 lakh
farmers got claim settlement of Rs. 247 crore".
FM added "Under ‘Bangla Krishi Sech Yojana (BKSY)’ in association
with Per Drop More Crop, in FY 2023-24, so far, an area
of 12,861 hectares of agricultural land benefitting 30,215
farmers has been covered under Micro Irrigation by
installation of both Sprinkler Irrigation System and Drip
Irrigation System. Since inception, 1,71,928 farmers have
been benefited by installation of Micro Irrigation system
in their field with a coverage of 68,297 hectares area
under this Scheme".

- Then page to calculate Bangla Shasya Bima Yojana insurance premium will open.
- Enter season, year, scheme, district, block, crop, area (in decimal). Then BSB insurance calculator page will automatically start showing results. Results includes premium rate, sum insured, notified unit, govt. subsidy to farmer, farmer premium amount.
Report / Apply for Crop Loss at BSB official website

- Once you reach homepage, click at "Report Crop Loss" link to apply for crop loss.
- Then page showing details on where to apply online for crop loss under Bangla Shasya Bima Yojana will open.
- You can check how to report crop loss with respective insurance companies through their toll free numbers or headquarter email.
Bangla Shasya Bima Status Check using Application ID

BSB Search Insurance Cover using Voter ID Card (Download Certificate)

- You can also directly click https://banglashasyabima.net/farmer_corner to download certificate of insurance.
- Then page to search insurance coverage under Bangla Shasya Bima Yojana using voter ID card will open.
- Enter voter card, select season, year and click "Check" to search BSB insurance cover using voter ID.
Alternate method is that, you can simply click at "Check Insurance Coverage" option present at homepage of Bangla Sasya Bima portal.
BSB Kharif Application Form 2024 PDF Download

- Once you reach homepage, click at "Application Form for Kharif 2024" link.
- Then Bangla Shasya Bima Yojana application form PDF for Kharif 2024 season will open.
- You can save / print and download BSB Kharif 2024 application form PDF and submit it to concerned authorities for approval.
Crop Insurance Funds Released under Bangla Shasya Bima Yojana
On 18 Oct 2023, CM Mamata Banerjee wrote on X "We are releasing Rs. 197 crore to 2.46 lakh affected farmers who could not sow paddy due to deficit rainfall. The claims have been finalised under Bangla Shasya Bima (BSB), which is a fully state government funded crop insurance scheme and we pay the entire premium amount. Farmers are not required to pay anything".
While the West Bengal government did not accept the Centre's PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, a cash incentive scheme for farmers, the state government devised its own scheme. The State's Krishak Bandhu scheme was relaunched in 2021, doubling assistance to farmers to Rs. 10,000 a year. Farm labourers and sharecroppers are also included in the scheme, and they receive Rs. 4,000 a year.
Bangla Shasya Bima Yojana in West Bengal Budget 2023-24
Finance Minister presented West Bengal Budget 2023-24 on 15 February 2023. FM mentioned that "From Kharif 2020 season the state is implementing Technology based Bangla Shasya Bima (BSB) Scheme wherein Remote Sensing, Satellite Imagery, Weather data and Ground Truthing (GT) are used to monitor crop health and claim assessment. In the last Kharif Season (Kharif-2022), 59.67 lakh farmers were enrolled under this scheme and a total claim of Rs. 177.29 crore has been disbursed benefitting 2.37 lakh farmers. Since inception, a total claim amount of Rs. 2286.11 crore has been settled under BSB till 15 Feb 2023".
