PM Suryoday Yojana Announcement in Union Budget 2024-2025

Finance Minister presented Union Budget 2024-25 on 1 February 2024 in which she said "Through rooftop solarization, one crore households will be enabled to obtain up to 300 units free electricity every month. This scheme follows the resolve of Hon’ble Prime Minister on the historic day of consecration of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya". She mentioned that following benefits are expected from PM Suryoday Yojana:-

1. Savings up to fifteen to eighteen thousand rupees annually for households from free solar electricity and selling the surplus to the distribution companies;
2. Charging of electric vehicles;
3. Entrepreneurship opportunities for a large number of vendors for supply and installation;
4. Employment opportunities for the youth with technical skills in manufacturing, installation and maintenance

After returning from Ayodhya on 22 January 2024, PM Narendra Modi posted a tweet on X, "सूर्यवंशी भगवान श्री राम के आलोक से विश्व के सभी भक्तगण सदैव ऊर्जा प्राप्त करते हैं। आज अयोध्या में प्राण-प्रतिष्ठा के शुभ अवसर पर मेरा ये संकल्प और प्रशस्त हुआ कि भारतवासियों के घर की छत पर उनका अपना सोलर रूफ टॉप सिस्टम हो। अयोध्या से लौटने के बाद मैंने पहला निर्णय लिया है कि हमारी सरकार 1 करोड़ घरों पर रूफटॉप सोलर लगाने के लक्ष्य के साथ 'प्रधानमंत्री सूर्योदय योजना' प्रारंभ करेगी।" 

He added that "इससे गरीब और मध्यम वर्ग का बिजली बिल तो कम होगा ही, साथ ही भारत ऊर्जा के क्षेत्र में आत्मनिर्भर भी बनेगा।"

At this portal, any interested candidate can apply online for Pradhanmantri Suryoday Yojana and submit their details. Note that Pradhan Mantri Suryoday Yojana is launched in the name of PM Surya Ghar Yojana which is the short form of PM - Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana.
