Gujarat government has started implementation of Namo Lakshmi Yojana 2025. Under this scheme, the state govt. will provide financial assistance of Rs. 50,000 to girls studying in class 9th to 12th. The main objective is to target universal enrolment in secondary education by offering financial aid. Under the Namo Lakshmi Yojana, each girl student receives a total financial aid of ₹50,000 spread across four years. Since its launch, more than 10.49 lakh girls have benefited, with total disbursements crossing ₹1,000 crore. To ensure transparent and efficient management, a dedicated Namo Lakshmi Portal has also been introduced for implementation across schools, the press release said.
To encourage students to take up science in Classes 11 and 12, the Government of Gujarat, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, has implemented Namo Saraswati Vigyan Sadhana Yojana. The scheme is open to students who score 50% or more marks in Class 10 and pursue science in recognised government, grant-in-aid, or self-financed higher secondary schools. Under this initiative, eligible students in the science stream of Classes 11 and 12 receive a total financial assistance of ₹25,000 over two years.
Since its launch, more than 1.5 lakh students have benefitted, with disbursements crossing ₹161 crore. For its smooth execution, a dedicated Namo Saraswati Portal has also been launched. This scheme plays a crucial role in encouraging more students to pursue science, opening pathways to quality education and future opportunities in science and technology, the release added.
Similarly, Rs 15,000 per annum for classes 11 and 12 will be transferred in monthly instalments of Rs 750 for 10 months based on attendance, while the remaining 50% will be credited to their accounts after they clear the Class 12 board exam.
Under the Namo Lakshmi Yojana, adolescent girls studying in government, granted and private schools from classes 9 to 12 will be given Rs 50,000 over the four years - Rs 10,000 annually in classes 9 and 10, and Rs. 15,000 per year in classes 11 and 12 - to complete their education.
The budget for school education under the sector has also risen over the same period, with the current allocation more than double of that in the 2018-19 budget.

Namo Lakshmi Yojana 2025 Latest Update
On 14th September 2025, the state govt. of Gujarat disburses Rs. 1000 crore to more than 1,049,000 girl students under Namo Lakshmi Yojana. The scheme is open to students who score 50% or more marks in class 10th and pursue science in recognised govt, grant in aid, or self financed higher secondary schools.
Under the 'Namo Lakshmi Yojana', the government will provide Rs. 50,000 over a period of four years to girls. The beneficiary students, after securing admission in Class 9, will receive Rs 500 per month for 10 months each year, and the remaining Rs. 10,000 will be disbursed after they pass the Class 10 board exam, it said. Students in Classes 11 and 12 will receive Rs 750 per month for 10 months each year, and Rs 15,000 will be given after they clear the Class 12 board exam, the release said. The scheme will cover girls studying in government, aided and private schools. This scheme is applicable to girls whose family income is less than Rs. 6 lakh per annum, said the release.
Additionally, under the Namo Saraswati Vigyan Sadhana Yojana, over 150,000 students have received assistance amounting to more than Rs. 161 crore. To further the Prime Minister's vision of "Viksit Bharat@2047" and ensure that students in Gujarat have access to high-quality, future-ready education, the Chief Minister launched the two new schemes in March 2024.

Objective of Namo Lakshmi Yojna 2025
The main aim of this scheme are to increase enrolment, to reduce dropouts, and also to improve the nutritional status of adolescent girls. Moreover, with the implementation of this scheme, the state will be able to achieve universal enrolment in secondary education just as the state has achieved universal enrolment in primary education. The government has set aside Rs. 1,250 crore in the upcoming financial year for the scheme. According to the education department, Rs. 10,000 per annum for class 9 and 10 will be disbursed as Rs. 500 monthly for 10 months based on attendance. Eligibility Criteria for Namo Lakshmi Yojana in Gujarat
- All girls who have completed Class 8 and enrolled in Class 9 in government and aided schools will be covered under the scheme.
- However, for girls in private schools, the government has set a family income cap of Rs. 6 lakh per annum.
It is worth noting that Namo Lakshmi Yojana will be available as an additional benefit to the students covered under Namo Saraswati Merit Scholarship. The 'Namo Saraswati Vigyan Sadhana Yojana' aims to encourage students to opt for the science stream and excel in it, said the release. Students in Classes 11 and 12 who have opted for science will receive Rs. 1,000 per month for 10 months, totalling Rs. 20,000 over two years, and the remaining Rs. 5,000 will be disbursed after they pass the Class 12 board exam.

Salient Features of Namo Lakshmi Yojna

Meanwhile, the allocation for the education sector, comprising school, and higher and technical education, has seen a gradual rise over the past seven years. With Rs. 55,114 crore set aside for the sector, the allocation has nearly doubled from the Rs 27,500 crore provisioned in the 2018-19 budget.
The budget for school education under the sector has also risen over the same period, with the current allocation more than double of that in the 2018-19 budget.
