The Delhi government has introduced the Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana to promote girls’ education and strengthen their financial security. Announcing the initiative, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said the scheme is designed to provide enhanced support to young girls across the capital.The programme replaces and upgrades the Ladli Yojana, which was launched in 2008, with the objective of offering increased financial assistance to encourage girls to continue their studies. The revised scheme is scheduled to come into effect on April 1, 2026.

What is Delhi Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana 2026?
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that the Delhi government wants to ensure that no girl in Delhi is forced to drop-out from her education due to a lack of financial resources. Keeping this vision in mind, the Ladli Scheme has been revamped. Now the financial assistance has been increased and rules are made more practical.
While announcing the scheme, CM stated, "We will launch the upgraded Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana on 1st April and discontinue the old Ladli Yojana."
The Delhi government will make sure that all those girls who falls in this category would be covered under the Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana. It is estimated that the financial implications of the scheme would be around Rs. 160 crore.
This upgraded version of the scheme would ensure bright future, better education and would also serve as a medium to keep girls healthy. Delhi state government is going to start this Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana from 1st April 2026.

Lakhpati Beti Yojana Eligibility Criteria
- Every girl who is a permanent resident of the Delhi state and whose parents and family also resides here atleast for the last 3 years.
- Only 2 surviving girls from a single family would be eligible.
- One of the important condition is that the vaccination of girl child must be complete.
- Girl must be studying in a recognized school.
- Annual income of the family must not exceed Rs. 1 lakh per annum.
- If the parents or family of the girl child performs marriage of the girl before the age of 18 years, then NO benefit would be provided.
Delhi Lakhpati Beti Yojana Amount
Earlier the assistance amount was Rs. 36,000 under Ladli Scheme, 2008. Now it has been increased by around Rs. 20,000. Now each girl is entitled to get an assistance amount of Rs. 56,000.- At the time of birth: Rs. 11000
- On going to Class 1st: Rs. 5000
- On going to Class 6th: Rs. 5000
- On going to Class 9th: Rs. 5000
- On going to Class 10th: Rs. 5000
- On going to Class 12th: Rs. 5000
- When girl goes in first year to any college and does any course such as diploma or graduation, then she will receive the final amount. At the time of doing any course of 2, 3 or 4 years, Delhi government will provide Rs. 20,000 directly into their bank accounts. This 20000 rupees are given to ensure that girls complete their course.
Maturity Amount under Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana
This Lakhpati Beti Yojana of Delhi government aims to motivate girls to pursue their education. If an eligible girl pursue graduation, then she will get maturity amount after completion of 21 years of age. At that time, girls will get Rs. 1 lakh (as Rs. 56,000 deposited in various phases along with their interest gets accumulated).The Delhi government will make sure that all those girls who falls in this category would be covered under the Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana.
